Beauty & Wellness
One of the strongest trades for self-employment. Covers skin and hair care, salon practice, hygiene and safety standards, client handling and basic salon management. Many students go on to work in or open their own salons.

Why Beauty & Wellness matters in Uttarakhand's schools
Beauty & Wellness is the second-largest trade in the programme and one of the most direct routes from a school certificate to an income. A student who has completed four years of salon practice under a qualified teacher can find work in a salon or set up a small unit at home with very little capital.
The trade is popular in urban districts such as Dehradun, Tehri and Champawat, where salon demand is steady. The teacher runs the school's beauty lab, demonstrates techniques on models and manikins, and drills students in the hygiene and client-handling standards the industry expects.
